This doesn’t sound like the happy royal reunion fans may have been hoping for!
Earlier this month, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reunited with King Charles and Queen Camilla for the first time in four years, bringing along Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet for a private family gathering at Highgrove House. It also marked the first reunion since Charles announced his cancer diagnosis.

Buckingham Palace confirmed the visit happened, as we previously reported, but it was private — so, don’t expect any family photos to surface.
But is that a bad thing? Well, according to royal author Christopher Andersen, things may have actually been a little chilly! He told Page Six on Monday:
“One gets the sense that, from Meghan’s perspective, the reunion with Charles and Camilla wasn’t entirely warm and fuzzy.”
Ouch!
But… not so fast?! A palace source rebutted Andersen’s claims by questioning how the man could possibly know what happened during what was described as a private family-only meeting. Which, hey, fair point!
Still, the trip wasn’t exactly smooth sailing. As we previously reported, Harry and Meghan were denied taxpayer-funded security, and Buckingham Palace reportedly withdrew an offer for them to stay at a royal residence. Meanwhile, People cited a source who went so far as to claim the visit “turned into a nightmare,” with Meghan allegedly heading back to California early with the kids. Not great — if true!
Andersen also believes Meghan has no interest in looking like she’s returning to royal life. As he put it to Page Six:
“It’s fairly clear that Markle feels more secure in [her home] in Montecito, and doesn’t want to give the impression that she will be any part of a return to royal life.”
Womp, womp!
Adding to that, the outlet also reported Harry was just overheard telling guests at the TIME100 Sports Gala that Meghan and the children were “happy” to be back in California. But… is that really the case???
Whatever happened behind palace doors may well stay there. But it doesn’t sound like this long-awaited royal reunion was all hugs and happy endings!
