Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Are Officially BANNED From Using 'Sussex Royal' For Branding!

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle won't be allowed to use sussex royal

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle wanted complete independence from the royal family, and they sure got it!

As we reported, the couple has been at a bit of a disagreement with the palace over whether or not they’d be allowed to use “Sussex Royal” post-Megxit.

While Queen Elizabeth II was supposedly never a fan of letting Harry and Meg exploit their royal titles after deciding to step down as senior royals, the former Suits actress was said to be “defiant” in insisting on using the name for branding. Well, it appears Meghan is no match for the British monarchy after all.

According to a spokesperson for the couple, they will not be using the word “royal” moving forward — not even for their groundbreaking, yet-to-be-launched foundation, (formerly known as) “Sussex Royal, the Charity Foundation”!

The rep told People in a statement on Friday:

“While The Duke and Duchess are focused on plans to establish a new non-profit organisation, given the specific UK government rules surrounding use of the word ‘Royal,’ it has been therefore agreed that their non-profit organisation, when it is announced this Spring, will not be named Sussex Royal Foundation. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex do not intend to use ‘SussexRoyal’ in any territory post Spring 2020.”

You win some, you lose some!

This is surely a huge loss for Meghan, who was reportedly hellbent on keeping the title for her and Harry’s new chapter. Per DailyMail.com, the couple previously sought to register Sussex Royal as a global trademark for a gaggle of products, including clothes, stationery, books, and teaching materials.

However, a friend of Meg’s insisted the couple weren’t looking to “profit” off of the name, but rather “protect” it. The confidante told DM:

“The global projects they are working on speak for themselves and they chose that name to protect the royal name, not profit off of it. Meghan said the name of their brand pales in comparison to the foundation they are building and the enormously positive impact it will have on people and the environment. Meghan has told her inner circle that their success is inevitable with or without their current brand name.”

Well, momma should have nothing to worry about then!

The rep noted the Sussex Royal trademark applications that were filed as protective measures have since been removed. Although the pair will formally retain their “HRH” styles, they won’t actively use them. They’ll still be known as The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, as well as by their titles of The Earl and Countess of Dumbarton and The Baron and Baroness Kilkeel.

Meanwhile, Archie Harrison’s parents are in the process of shutting down their office at Buckingham Palace and will instead be represented by their UK charity foundation team. The rep added:

“The Duke and Duchess will be spending their time in both the United Kingdom and North America. In addition to continuing to work closely with their existing patronages as they build a plan for engagements in the UK and the Commonwealth throughout the year, The Duke and Duchess have also been undertaking meetings as part of their ongoing work to establish a new non-profit organization. The details of this new organization will be shared later in the year.”

What do U think Harry and Meghan should rename their foundation to, Perezcious readers?
