We already know Prince Harry does what he can to defend women and children.
And it turns out he’s even a hero to soldiers!
Retired Trooper James Wharton has released a book about his experience as a gay man serving in the military. For the most part, he found it much more comfortable being himself.
But one night, a few ignorant soldiers threatened him with violence! So James did what he was trained to do- he reported it to his commanding officer. His Tank Commander just happened to be Prince Harry of Wales! James says:
“I told him, ‘I think I├óΓé¼Γäóm going to be murdered by the infantry.’ I climbed into the turret and talked Harry through exactly what had happened. He had a complete look of bewilderment on his face.
I couldn├óΓé¼Γäót stop the tears from welling up in my eyes. He said, ‘Right I├óΓé¼Γäóm going to sort this s**t out once and for all.’
He climbed out of the tank and I poked my head out of the turret a few moments later to see him having a go.”
Prince Harry chastised the soldiers not as their royalty but as their superior officer, warning them that any more incidents would result in full military discipline. James says:
“I could see he wasn├óΓé¼Γäót holding back…
I will always be grateful to Harry and I will never forget what happened. Until he went over and dealt with everything I was on track for a battering.”
Wow! No doubt about it. The man is a prince.
