Whoa! We were not expecting THIS to be the way Diddy’s prosecutors rest their case!
With the prosecution’s closing arguments expected to begin on Thursday, a MAJOR part of the disgraced rapper’s trial is being wrapped up. And it sounds like he won’t have to defend himself from quite as many allegations as he initially thought…

In a letter filed to Judge Arun Subramanian on Tuesday, the government indicated that three aspects of their case will no longer be pursued: attempted kidnapping, attempted arson and aiding and abetting sex trafficking. The letter, obtained by multiple outlets, reads:
“The Government understands the Court’s desire for streamlined instructions. With that in mind, the Government has suggested ways to streamline those instructions. Specifically, the Government has removed instructions from the charge relating to (i) attempted kidnapping under both California and New York law, (ii) attempted arson under California law, and (iii) aiding and abetting sex trafficking. The Government is no longer planning to proceed on these theories of liability so instructions are no longer necessary.”
According to TMZ, the attempted kidnapping charges relate to the alleged kidnapping of Capricorn Clark, who testified she was taken by Diddy’s team and subjected to lie detector tests over some stolen jewelry, and Cassie, who was allegedly held at the London Hotel.
The attempted arson charge relates to the Kid Cudi car explosion incident, which prosecutors failed to link Diddy to during trial.
As of now, it’s unclear which elements of the aiding and abetting sex trafficking charge will be abandoned. However, one thing prosecutors are not backing down from is their argument that just because women give consent to sexual acts does not mean they can’t later change their minds. And just because an individual receives compensation “does not preclude a finding of forced labor (which relates to sex trafficking).”
