It’s over for Princess Love and Ray J.
The Love & Hip Hop star officially filed for divorce from the hip hop artist on Tuesday, according to a report from E! News. The couple had been married for nearly four full years after their wedding back in August of 2016.

The pair’s divorce may be big news, but it’s not necessarily a surprise to see it play out like this. After all, it was just last November that a then-pregnant Princess Love publicly accused the R&B singer of abandoning her and their daughter in a Las Vegas hotel room without any way to get back home safely. The 35-year-old momma later claimed Ray J had left them high and dry in Sin City to “party with escorts and strippers” — a charge that spread like wildfire across social media at the time.
Brandy‘s 39-year-old brother quickly attempted to make peace over the controversy, appearing on The Wendy Williams Show to offer a public apology and deny the allegations against him. Still, things didn’t improve very much; Princess vowed at the time to file for divorce over the issue, and now, six months later, it appears as though she’s made good on her threat and followed through.
The breakup follows the birth of the pair’s son, Epik Ray Norwood, who came into this world in late December. The pair also shares 2-year-old daughter Melody Love. And yet even Epik’s birth and early life this year wasn’t without controversy; in a bid to keep her children safe amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the reality TV star prevented Ray J from returning home until he could prove he had safely quarantined himself alone in a hotel for weeks on end.
The infamous co-star of Kim Kardashian West‘s legendary sex tape told Page Six about the lockdown issue, reflecting on how it was difficult for him to work on his marriage if he couldn’t reunite with her to make things work. Nevertheless, he explained how he understood things with respect to the well-being of his own children, saying to the outlet:
“I’m lonely right now. I don’t want to quarantine by myself. I keep telling Princess, but she says, ‘If I see one person over there with you, you got to start over.’ So I really have to lock myself in, because I really miss my kids. She said I got to put in seven days alone, and I’m good with the seven, but she really want me to do 14, so it’s hard to look at the 13 days left.”
And yet now that long quarantine commitment appears to be all for naught, as Princess is set to go her own way and officially move forward with the split. Whatever happened in Sin City really appears to have done in Ray J for good on this one, ya know?!
