Motown genius Nick Ashford has died of throat cancer. He was 69.
Ashford wrote and produced a myriad Motown classics with his wife, Valerie Simpson.
Some of his songs include Aint No Mountain High Enough, You’re All I need to Get By, Let’s Go Get Stoned, and I’m Every Woman.
In 1984, he and Valerie made their Solid (As A Rock) video (watch above).
His last work was a collaboration album with Maya Angelo — 1996’s Been Found.
Ashford and his wife were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2002.
It’s a sad die when we lose someone, especially when that someone is a true artist.
Rest in peace, Nick Ashford.
