AHHHH!!! Words can’t explain how happy we are right now…but we’ll try to explain anyway.
Rhode Island governor Lincoln Chafee has ordered his state to recognize same-sex marriages that were performed out of state.
As a result, gay couples will enjoy the same benefits in Rhode Island that straight couples do. Same-sex spouses of state employees will be covered by their insurance, entitled to sales tax exemptions on the transfer of property, and can list their names as parents on a child’s birth certificate.
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!
Equality is on the way, people! Those who fear it and support same-sex marriage bans can only slow progress down, but marriage equality is breaking through like the beautiful sun on a warm cloudy day.
In other words, the future is inevitably brighter! Anyone who thinks differently has a big surprise coming their way.
We salute you Rhode Island for your courage and only have one question: Who’s next?
