The internet has found its latest viral political controversy, and it centers on infamous MAGA influencer Riley Gaines and a purportedly leaked video that critics say raises some very uncomfortable questions about authenticity!
The clip making the rounds on X (Twitter) and elsewhere online right now appears to show Gaines speaking with unseen reps from a company called Patriot Mobile, which has sponsored her online show in the past and is popular with conservative audiences.

In the footage, Gaines is seen asking for a reminder about the key principles she is supposed to be discussing, prompting a moment that has since exploded across social media. First, she said to a woman speaking off camera:
“Wait, tell me the pillars again. So, it’s pro-life…?”
According to the leaked video, the off-camera woman responded by listing the actual talking points:
“So, it’s the First Amendment, the Second Amendment, the sanctity of life, and our veterans.”
The moment didn’t end there. Gaines went on to repeat those same pillars during a recorded segment that later aired as part of her online show.

Awkward…
And now, like we said, the clip has spread like wildfire. For critics, that sequence was all the proof they needed to argue that political influencers are often delivering pre-packaged messaging rather than speaking from deeply personal conviction.
The backlash was swift, with commentators from across the political landscape piling on. Liberal writer and activist Joshua Reed Eakle did not hold back:
“There’s virtually no sincerity left in the MAGA media ecosystem. All that remains are grifters parroting talking points that someone higher up the chain provided them, and this cycle repeats all the way down.”
Political strategist Mike Nellis was equally blunt in his assessment of the now-viral footage:
“This is one of the most embarrassing things I’ve ever seen in my life.”
Then came criticism from Democratic Congressman Shri Thanedar, who used the controversy to make a broader argument about the Republican Party:
“This is nothing new. This is how the entire Republican Party has been operating for 10 years, except it’s Trump telling them what their ‘sincerely held’ beliefs are.”
And former Democratic Senate candidate Kyle Sweetser delivered perhaps the sharpest jab of them all:
“This is what it looks like when you sell your soul.”
Ouch!
Whether this clip ultimately changes anyone’s opinion of Gaines remains to be seen. But in a media environment where influencers frequently market themselves as authentic voices speaking directly to their audiences, the optics here are undeniably um… awkward… at the VERY least!!!
