So you know how the 2016 Summer Olympics supplied their athletes with roughly 450,000 condoms per person at the Rio de Janeiro Olympic village??

Well, it seems as though our 11,000+ competitors sure are making good use of the free protection… because even Tinder is going crazy over how much use it’s getting right now!

While we already knew that most of our favorite athletes were active on the app, the online dating service actually issued a statement on Tuesday saying that swipes are up 69 percent in the week since the opening ceremony!

But that’s not even the most impressive number — Tinder VP of Global Communications & Branding Rosette Pambakian claims there’s an even higher amount of actual matches, saying:

“The Olympic Games have started and Tinder use has skyrocketed in Rio de Janeiro. Over the weekend, matches in the Olympic Village increased by 129 percent and we expect this trend to continue throughout the Games.”

129 percent?!

However, just because these athletes are talented in their fields doesn’t mean they have much game…

A source from the Games spoke to E! News about just how helpful online dating is for the competitors, saying:

“Many of the athletes prefer to meet other athletes on Tinder and other dating apps because that’s easier, and then they do group dates with other athlete friends. Many of these women and men have been out of the dating game or never in the dating game before the Olympics, so it’s a lot to take in for these athletes, especially after training so hard to be here.”

That’s actually really adorable. We’re imagining some sort of compare medals and chill type-thing going on!

Have fun, everyone… but stay safe!

Would U be using Tinder if you were in Rio right now??
