R.I.P.

Lesbian activist and same-sex marriage pioneer Del Martin (above Left) passed away on Wednesday.

She was 87 years young.

In July, we wrote about Dale’s marriage to her longtime partner, Phyllis Lyon.

In 1955, Martin and Lyon co-founded the nation’s first outspoken advocacy group for lesbians, the Daughters of Bilitis.

Del died at a San Francisco hospital Wednesday morning, two weeks after a broken arm exacerbated her existing health problems.

Her wife was by her side.

So sad.
