Rita Ora was at the right place at the right time to snag a Today co-hosting gig last week!
On Thursday, the daytime series was in a frenzy after Kelly Rowland reportedly walked off set just minutes ahead of the ten o’clock hour with Hoda Kotb. Since Hoda’s regular co-anchor Jenna Bush Hager was out, the Destiny’s Child star — who’d been a guest during the eight o’clock hour — was supposed to guest host the full show. But there was some big kerfuffle over dressing rooms, and she bailed. That caused the production team to scrabble and tap the British artist for the role at the very last minute! And now Rita’s opening up about it!!

Taking to her Instagram on Friday, the For You singer confirmed she was asked to do the show just moments before the whole thing went live! She shared:
“Well, this happened! We had two minutes to prepare ahhh, thank you @hodaandjenna for asking me to co-host the show… Everyone was so lovely and kind, I had SO much fun doing it!! Love to everyone that tuned in, maybe we should do more??!!!”
Hoda was THRILLED about the collab, too, adding on her own feed:

Page Six sources previously revealed that “Kelly and her team were not happy” with their dressing room on set that day, and they would’ve preferred a big green room like Jennifer Lopez had at the time. The rooms at the morning show are all known to be “glorified closets,” per the insider. Thus, it was hard for the Today crew to find a more suitable space for the multi-hyphenate talent. Evidently, she wasn’t pleased with any of the other options, so she walked straight outta 30 Rock! Jeez!!
Desperate for a last-minute replacement, Rita, who had already been booked as a guest, supposedly “volunteered” to fill in. She really seized her moment! And it sounds like she crushed it! She’s gonna get some good karma for that!
