Oh no! Fans who were ready for a big night with Rod Stewart in Las Vegas this weekend got some seriously disappointing news at the very last minute.
The legendary rocker, who is currently in the middle of his Vegas residency, pulled the plug on not one but two scheduled performances at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace just hours before he was expected to hit the stage. The canceled concerts were set for Friday May 29 and last night, Saturday May 30, and left concertgoers scrambling after many had already made their way to Sin City for the shows.

It all came out according to a representative for the music icon, who sent a statement to local media outlets right as the cancellation was announced:
“Following his doctor’s advice, Rod Stewart has regretfully canceled his performances at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas on May 29 and 30, but is scheduled to return with shows beginning June 2.”
While the initial announcement left some fans wondering what exactly had happened, Rod quickly shared more details of his own and reassured supporters that he plans to be back soon.
He explained:
“My apologies to my family of fans. I am on vocal rest as I recover from a sinus infection. I look forward to seeing you at a future show at Caesars Palace or on tour this summer.”
A sinus infection may sound relatively minor, but for a singer whose voice is his livelihood, doctors often recommend complete vocal rest to prevent further strain and allow proper recovery. Still, the timing of the cancellation left many fans stunned.
One attendee on X (Twitter) claimed they received notification of the cancellation at 5:48 p.m. on Friday night, reportedly less than two hours before the show’s scheduled 7:30 p.m. start time. Ugh!
Needless to say, social media quickly filled with reactions ranging from sympathy to frustration. One person wrote on X:
“Feels like the colosseum is cursed atp.”
And they may not be wrong about that!
Another commenter took a more blunt approach, saying:
“He needs to retire and enjoy the rest of his years in peace, anyway tbh.”
But if anyone thinks Rod is preparing to walk away from performing, they clearly haven’t been paying attention. The 81-year-old entertainer has repeatedly insisted that retirement is not in the cards.
Last year, after announcing what many assumed was a farewell tour, Rod clarified that he was only stepping away from massive worldwide tours — not from music itself. The singer has also spoken proudly in the recent past about maintaining his fitness over the years, even after undergoing a knee replacement.
So, while these sudden cancellations are undoubtedly disappointing for fans, it sounds like this situation is more about protecting his voice than signaling the end of his career. For now, supporters will simply have to wait and hope the rock legend is back onstage as planned in just a few days.
Get well soon, Rod!
