'I Was 15': Rose McGowan Accuses Sideways Director Alexander Payne Of Statutory Rape

Rose McGowan accuses Alexander Payne of sexual misconduct

Rose McGowan has accused another Hollywood power player of sexual misconduct: Oscar-winning writer-director Alexander Payne.

The 46-year-old actress took to Twitter on Monday to detail an alleged encounter she had with the Sideways filmmaker when she was just 15 years old and he was in his twenties.

The Scream star dropped some very specific details about Payne that let him know she’s got his number. She wrote:

“Alexander Payne. You sat me down & played a soft-core porn movie you directed for Showtime under a different name. I still remember your apartment in Silverlake. You are very well-endowed. You left me on a street corner afterwards. I was 15.”

Something tells us those who know the director well will know for sure she’s telling the truth…

The Jawbreaker actress then penned a follow-up tweet in which she attached a headshot of herself at 15, sharing:

“I just want an acknowledgement [sic] and an apology. I do not want to destroy.”

Wow. Is it just us, or does 15-year-old Rose McGowan bear a striking resemblance to Reese Witherspoon in 1999’s Election — a movie in which she plays a high schooler having sex with one of her teachers?

This isn’t the first time Rose has mentioned this encounter either — just the first time she’s gone public with his name…

McGowan’s new allegation lines up perfectly with a description of an experience she previously spoke about during a February 2018 conversation with Ronan Farrow. During the conversation, the Charmed star said another powerful man in Hollywood besides Harvey Weinstein had been inappropriate with her sexually.

The Pulitzer-prize winning journalist said to her at the time:

“You told me that, even long before the Harvey Weinstein incident, you recounted to me that there was a statutory rape by a prominent man in Hollywood.”

While McGowan didn’t name him at the time, she did tell some of the basics:

“Yes, and I didn’t process that until — well, I’ll get to him… He took me home, after he met me, and showed me a soft-porn movie he’d made for Showtime, under a different name, of course… And then he had sex with me… And then he left me next to Tropical in Silver Lake, standing on a street corner.”

The actress said she realized only much later after the alleged incident that it would quality as a statutory rape claim, adding:

“I’d been attracted to him, so I always filed it away as a sexual experience … Two weeks after your [New Yorker] story came out, I’d processed it, but I removed myself from it.”

Payne has yet to respond to McGowan’s tweet.

As you likely know, Rose has been a prominent voice of the #MeToo movement after being one of the first women to publicly accuse Weinstein of sexual assault. Back in February, weeks before the disgraced producer was convicted, McGowan said she wouldn’t have closure with Weinstein “until he’s dead.”

She told Evan Ross Katz on an episode of his Shut Up Evan podcast:

“I feel like he and I are strapped in this battle together until one of us is dead. That’s how it goes. Energetically, we’re like just locked. It’s a really disgusting feeling. I just would love to be able to be like other people and live my life. That would be really nice, you know?”

What do U think about Rose’s most recent claim, Perezcious readers?
