Rose McGowan was not impressed with the “Hollywood fakery” at the Golden Globes.
As you likely saw, most of the attendees at the Tinseltown award show donned black ensembles in order to stand with the Time’s Up movement, which was founded to combat sexual misconduct in the workplace. It started getting picked up in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal, where McGowan bravely admitted she was raped by the powerhouse producer.

So, it’s no wonder the Charmed actress had plenty of criticism for the all-black gesture at the Hollywood event. Rose criticized the statement of solidarity after fellow Weinstein victim Asia Argento praised the 44-year-old for being “the first one who broke the silence.” In response, Rose wrote:

Man, oh man. However, this isn’t the first time the Scream alum has put her A-list peers on blast. Earlier in the weekend, alongside the pic (above), the actress turned activist added on Instagram:
“every time I think of one of their black dresses I get a body flashback thinking of it repping him on my body. I am talking about my own feelings. My own journey.”
Back in December, after it was revealed that Meryl Streep was planning to wear black at the Globes, Rose called out the celebrated actress for being hypocritical. At the time, McGowan penned:
“Actresses, like Meryl Streep, who happily worked for The Pig Monster, are wearing black @GoldenGlobes in silent protest. YOUR SILENCE is THE problem. You’ll accept a fake award breathlessly & affect no real change. I despise your hypocrisy. Maybe you should all wear Marchesa“
Not long after the shade, Meryl responded by saying she was “hurt to be attacked by” Rose and promised that she knew nothing about Harvey’s predatory ways. Streep, like many others, wore all black to the Golden Globes and brought activist Ai-jen Poo as her date.
While Rose certainly has a point, we’re glad to see that so many stars publicly supported the Time’s Up campaign.
