In case you hadn’t heard the good news, Roseanne has been canceled by ABC!
After years of conspiracy theories and various racist comments (along with tons of love for fellow racist Donald Trump), the star’s “planet of the apes” tweet about Barack Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett was finally one step too far.
Most offended by Roseanne didn’t expect her to actually face any consequences — but that all changed thanks to ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey who called her words “abhorrent” and “repugnant.”

Now others are weighing in on the landmark decision regarding the show, starting with someone who just lost her job…
Exec producer (and the one-and-only Darlene) Sara Gilbert expressed hurt at what happened — but also condemned her costar’s comments in no uncertain terms:
Roseanne’s recent comments about Valerie Jarrett, and so much more, are abhorrent and do not reflect the beliefs of our cast and crew or anyone associated with our show. I am disappointed in her actions to say the least.

This is incredibly sad and difficult for all of us, as we’ve created a show that we believe in, are proud of, and that audiences love— one that is separate and apart from the opinions and words of one cast member.

As for ABC’s parent company, Disney CEO Bob Iger had Dungey’s back, writing:
From Channing Dungey, President of ABC Entertainment: “Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show.”
There was only one thing to do here, and that was the right thing.

Of course, many unrelated to the show had a lot to say also…
I’m glad Roseanne is canceled.
The backlash to its cancellation is going to be a deafening nightmare.
Nothing good has come of this entire thing.

Proud of ABC… it was the right thing to do
Roseanne has done many disgraceful things in her career
With one tweet she put a 1000 people out of work
I admire and feel bad for John Goodman, Lori Metcalf, Sara Gilbert & everyone else… gonna cost them millions
Nice going Roseanne https://t.co/UbYcmlo5uR

The terrible part is all of the talented innocent people who worked on that show now suffer because of this. #notjustice

But honestly she got what she deserved. As I tell my 4 year old, one makes a choice with one’s actions. Roseanne made a choice. A racist one. ABC made a choice. A human one.

Thank you Channing Dungey!https://t.co/VIlKTF9y7Z

Thank you, Channing. Thank you @ABCNetwork. ❤️❤️❤️ https://t.co/jvA7l71HJS

Thank You @ABCNetwork and #ChanningDungey for doing what is right. https://t.co/bWL4dySl5K

Meanwhile Hollywood remains the only place where the bad guys (eventually & often belatedly) lose https://t.co/yJf6bwElys

Firing Roseanne is not enough. I am going to personally remove all of the Meryl Streep scenes from She-Devil.

Attention NFL teams, now that Roseanne is unemployed, her fee for singing the national anthem is much lower. Why not have her serenade the athletes you’re forcing to stand?
— Touré (@Toure) May 29, 2018
I wish some of these so-called defenders of liberty would start to understand what freedom of speech is AND isn’t. Roseanne is allowed to say whatever she wants. It doesn’t mean @ABCNetwork needs to continue funding her TV show if her words are considered abhorrent. https://t.co/lSx2GndLEO

├░┼╕ΓÇ£╦å ‘Abhorrent’ is defined as “being so repugnant as to stir up positive antagonism.” https://t.co/uKBtL8hjIi

If we can hold a comedian to these standards why can’t we do the same for a lying racist paranoid horrible ‘president’? #Roseanne
— Tommy Campbell (@MrTommyCampbell) May 29, 2018
The funny thing is Roseanne revived the show to say that not all Trump supporters are racist bigots…then she went and said racist, bigoted shit.
— Denizcan James (@MrFilmkritik) May 29, 2018
When critics claim the media is biased for not featuring more unabashed 100% pro-Trump voices, the Roseanne debacle shows why: to promote someone who fully embraces the president is to give a platform to someone who either condones or shares his bigotry. That’s the core reality.
— Brian Klaas (@brianklaas) May 29, 2018
Anyone or anything aligned with Trump’s brand of bigotry eventually goes down in flames. From Roseanne to Papa John to Steve Bannon to Trump-endorsed candidates. He’s truly got the Reverse Midas Touch. Get ready, NFL. You’re up.

Don’t allow this to be missed in all the chaos today
The President’s Son retweeted Roseanne’s disgusting tweets about George Soros, who was 9 (same age as Anne Frank) when WWII started and is a Jew himself. The Tweets claim he turned in fellow Jews to be killed.
This is FALSE! pic.twitter.com/payz46UdBG
