This is a lot to handle!
You know how Katy Perry‘s Part Of Me documentary showcased her and Russell Brand‘s deteriorating relationship, culminating in their divorce via text?
Well, apparently, Russell was making a documentary of his own at the exact same time called BRAND: A Second Coming which just premiered at the South by Southwest Film Festival on Friday night… except he didn’t attend!
After filming for seven years, the 39-year-old decided that seeing his marriage fall apart for a second time on-screen was just too much.
He shared a statement on his website apologizing to the film’s director, Ondi Timoner, saying:
“You’d think a narcissist would like nothing more than talking about themselves and their ‘rags to riches’, ‘hard luck’ story but actually, it felt like, to me, my life was hard enough the first time round and going through it again was painful and sad.”
Yikes!
The film doesn’t feature Katy often, but when it does, it points out that the reason the pair drifted apart was Russell’s desire to change the world and Katy’s desire to be famous.

And as if that weren’t enough for the comedian to deal with, Katy was reportedly seen hooking up with Mumford & Sons‘ banjoist Winston Marshall in Germany on Sunday night!
We guess that would mean her rocky relationship with John Mayer is officially over too!
We still get the feeling that Katy and Russell truly loved each other; it just didn’t work out.
