Illinois Rocks!
Gays and their supporters rejoiced in Illinois yesterday as Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich Pat Quinn signed legislation establishing civil unions, giving same-sex couples most of the state-level rights and responsibilities of marriage.
At the ceremony, openly gay state representative Greg Harris reminded the crowd “There is more work to be done. Things can get better.”
Lt. Gov. Sheila Simon added, “I hope that other states will join us and I hope the federal government will join us as well. Full equality is not too much to ask for.”
We agree! EQUALITY IS NOT TOO MUCH TO ASK FOR!!!!!!!!!!!!
However, this is a HUGE step forward. There is much reason for celebration in boys town! Congrats Illinois!!!!!!!
