Samuel L. Jackson is usually unapologetic about his words, and that also goes for his recent comments about black Brits!
The Hateful Eight star faced some backlash over controversial remarks about black British actors portraying African Americans on the big screen.
In a recent interview with New York radio station Hot 97, SLJ said he thought Jordan Peele‘s racially charged horror flick Get Out should have starred an American actor instead of London-born Daniel Kaluuya.

These comments sparked a ton of criticism — even (British) Star Wars actor John Boyega spoke out, saying Jackson’s argument was a “stupid ass conflict we don’t have time for.”
Now, the actor is clarifying his remarks, saying he just meant to criticize the one-way system.
At Wednesday’s premiere of Kong: Skull Island, the 68-year-old told the AP:
“It was not a slam against them, but it was just a comment about how Hollywood works in an interesting sort of way sometimes.”
Jackson complemented the skills and hard work black Brits put in to take on American roles — but said the cross-nation casting doesn’t work the other way around to benefit African American actors.

He continued:
“We’re not afforded that same luxury, but that’s fine, we have plenty of opportunities to work. I enjoy their work. I enjoy working with them when I have the opportunity to do that.”
We have to admit, not too many roles come to mind when we think about black Americans playing Brits — although Don Cheadle‘s awful cockney accent in the Ocean’s Eleven series doesn’t really help Sam’s case.
