Oh, no. Every time Meghan Markle tries to convince the world she’s a kitchen guru, it backfires big time!
The Duchess of Sussex’s appearance on MasterChef Australia had already generated a ton of controversy before its premiere on Sunday night, and now that it’s out, Meghan is taking heat for being unable to answer this ONE simple question! During the episode, the mother of two was introduced by Judge Poh Ling Yeow as having a “deep love of home cooking,” which has translated into her “own lifestyle brand that includes beautiful artisanal food products.” Always gotta plug As Ever! LOLz!

French chef Jean-Christophe Novelli then wondered:
“Can I ask you please, Meghan, what is your favorite dish to cook for your family?”
A super easy question for any momma, right? Especially a self-proclaimed home cook! But the Suits alum couldn’t name one meal!!! Instead, she launched into a long-winded explanation about how the question was a “tough one” because she has “a lot of palates to appease” in her family. She noted:
“My husband being from the UK loves a lot of meat, potatoes, and cream sauce. California girl, I like grilled fish, grilled meats, lots of citrus.”
Unable to think of an actual meal, she said:
“I just like using lots of pure natural herbs and spices.”
Then pivoting the conversation away from her obvious flub, she asked if they said the word “herbs” with a soft or hard “H” in Australia. Watch:

Fans were shocked by the embarrassing response, reacting on X (Twitter):
“She can’t think of a single meal she feeds her family? What sort of person goes on MasterChef and seems surprised when they are asked what meals they cook? She couldn’t think of anything. I think we know the Nannies take care of those children”
“What I found hilarious was that numerous times, she was asked about her favorite dish or what she would cook with a particular ingredient, etc. Her answer? She did not name one dish, which shows she doesn’t cook at all”
“She’s pretentious and insufferable. She has had a cooking show, and knew she was going on a cooking show, but she can’t even think of one favorite family dish?”
“The most natural question in the world. He didn’t ask, ‘What do you like? He asked, ‘What do you cook for your family!’ She is totally stumped, as if she were asked an advanced algebra question. Good grief.”
“She didn’t mention what the kids eat?! As a mom that’s usually top of mind when asked about ‘family’ meals…”
“For years they never had a favorite family dish that they can share. Are they not close?”
“Yeah, that’s silly. I had five palates to ‘appease,’ and a few were pretty picky — but I can absolutely remember the meals everyone liked, because we had them a lot! It’s funny to me that she speaks in generalities about what she and Harry like, and doesn’t mention the kids at all.”

Ouchhhh.
It is a really surprising response! Why not just name a dish? It would’ve been easier, faster, and probably a lot more relatable than trying to suggest her life is so difficult because she has to feed so many different people. Everyone with a family or partner is dealing with that! Hah!
