Meghan Markle sure isn’t having the best time over on MasterChef Australia — at least, not according to viewers and internet commenters — and this latest little speed bump sure isn’t smoothing things out at all!
Prince Harry unexpectedly popped up during the latest episode of the show, and viewers got a front-row seat to a surprise FaceTime moment with Meghan that immediately had fans talking. Sweet? Totally. Staged? According to plenty of people online… maybe!

So, as we’ve been reporting, the Duchess of Sussex was serving as a guest judge during the cooking competition’s latest ep. But all of a sudden, on air, a production crew member approached her with some unexpected news. As cameras rolled, the crew member announced:
“We had a phone call to the studio.”
At first, Meghan looked a little worried. And who wouldn’t be?!
But the second she realized who was calling, her entire face lit up. Smiling from ear to ear, she greeted her husband with an enthusiastic:
“Hi, my love!”
Awww!
The judges sitting beside Meghan, Poh Ling Yeow and Sofia Levin, couldn’t help but laugh along as Harry appeared on the screen with a cheerful “G’day.” (BTW, Meghan filmed this guest appearance earlier this year while she and Harry were visiting Australia, in case you were wondering!)
Meghan wasn’t about to keep the surprise to herself, either. Turning the phone toward everyone nearby, she excitedly declared:
“My husband’s here!”
Cue the cheers!
The audience erupted with applause and excitement while Harry waved from the other end of the call before joking:
“What’s going on? Have I interrupted something important?”
But TBH, the timing couldn’t have been better! Meghan explained exactly what was happening, proudly showing off the contestants’ creations while saying:
“Well, we’re actually in the middle of tasting all the dishes. It’s amazing. They’re so talented.”
She also introduced Harry to the contestants, including Aaron Kher, Casper Kenworthy, and Petro Papathomas, making the surprise cameo feel like an unexpected family moment in the middle of the competition.

Before wrapping up the call, Meghan revealed to the rest of the folks in the room with her that Harry was spending time in Canberra with veterans and sweetly told him:
“We wish you were here.”
Harry kept things brief before signing off, saying:
“Well, go and enjoy it. I’m very sorry to disturb you. All is well here. I’ll see you later.”
So sweet! And while it on its own wasn’t exactly dramatic… it was definitely enough to get people talking.
For starters, many viewers on X (Twitter) absolutely loved seeing the couple interact and thought the exchange was adorable, as you can see from just a few of the reactions (below):
“Wow, these two are so in love.”
“Love this; so much fun!”
“Prince Harry and Meghan will always do whatever it takes to show up and support one another and it’s one of the reasons their marriage is so successful.”
“Great moment! That’s a sweet marriage. Everyone present is going to recall this forever”
But others weren’t buying it at all! Skeptics questioned whether the FaceTime call had really been spontaneous, with some suggesting the entire segment felt overly produced or even completely staged for television, as you can see (below):
“Absolute cringe.”
“So fake”

“So staged”

As always, when Harry and Meghan are involved, even a quick phone call somehow turns into a full-blown online conversation. Whether you found the moment heartwarming or couldn’t stop rolling your eyes, one thing is certain: this surprise cameo succeeded in getting everyone talking!
