Sara Gilbert warmed our heart SO much yesterday, it was as if she wrapped them in a blanket!
The former child star opened up about realizing she was gay at a young age! She shared her experience with her table-side co-hosts on The Talk, admitting that she knew while dating her on-screen and off-screen boyfriend, Johnny Galecki!
We had no idea Darlene and David dated in real life! Aw!
Back in their Roseanne days, Sara says she had a total crush on Johnny. But as she got older and they started getting more serious, she noticed something felt off.
Gilbert, while getting choked up, explained:
“We started dating and he would come over and we would make out and then I would start to get depressed Johnny felt badly, I think, and started to take it personally and didn’t know what was going on. So I eventually told him that I thought it was about my sexuality and he was super sweet about it.”
And he’s still sweet nowadays!
Before going on the air to share this story, Sara actually called Johnny to ask his permission. Not only did he give her the go ahead, he offered to hold her hand while she did!
Sara is now happily engaged to Linda Perry and can finally live her life openly. But she also spoke about still struggling to overcome her fears to this day. Gilbert admitted:
“I want to live a true life. Beyond that, we do often say things like ‘it gets better’├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥and it does get better. I have an amazing life, but there can still be a struggle with it, and that’s ok. There can be a part of you that doesn’t want to be different or feel scared. And that is more important than any of it.”
