Science has done some incredible things in the past century, but no study could match the amazing results found in a recent look at food and taste.
A new study at Cornell university in NY took a look at the eating habits of 139 people at an Italian buffet at an upstate NY restaurant.
You know, instead of working on a cure for cancer, scientists spent their time studying food. Wonderful.
The experiment found that the more expensive a person’s meal was, the more they enjoyed their food.
Some people’s all-you-can eat meals cost $4 while the other half cost $8.
When asked to rate the quality of the food, the people who paid $8 enjoyed their food 11% more than those who paid half that.
A behavior professor at the school said:
“We were fascinated to find that pricing has little impact on how much one eats, but a huge impact on how you interpret the experience.”
Let’s hope restaurants don’t find out about this.
Imagine: The new Big Mac! Now only $24.99!!
Way to go, science.
