Scooter Braun Doubles Down On Taylor Swift Response, Calls Out Death Threats & 'Pointless Violence'

Scooter Braun second response Taylor Swift controversy

Scooter Braun is doubling down.

Just hours after we reported on his first public response to the ongoing music catalog situation involving Taylor Swift, the manager is back at it again with a second call-out — and this one includes some powerful (and concerning) points.

Very early on Friday morning, the 38-year-old penned this long, heartfelt message directly to the embattled pop princess, which he posted publicly on his Instagram page. In it, he spoke about the ongoing death threats against his family, as well as discussed his desire for a resolution to this whole situation.

Here’s the IG post, in full:

It’s a long, eye-opening message, to say the least.

And we’ve got the full thing (below) for those who don’t want to scroll through IG, broken down into sections so you can take it in — and trust us, there is a lot to digest here…

‘Social Media War’

Let’s begin with the high-profile manager’s reveal about threats of violence towards his own family (below):

“Since your public statement last week there have been numerous death threats directed at my family. This morning I spoke out publicly for the first time saying I wouldn’t participate in a social media war. However I came home tonight to find my wife had received a phone call threatening the safety of our children as well as other threats seen above. I won’t go into the details of the past week. I have been at a loss. Thinking of my wife and children, my team and their families, I have gone through a range of emotions on how to deal with this. I write this now only after a deep breath and much reflection. I am certain there is no situation worth ever jeopardizing anyone’s safety.”

Talk about starting off hot. Death threats are NEVER acceptable, in any situation. Ugh.

Scary to even think about the worst possible scenario, no matter how unlikely it may be!

‘A Time Of Pointless Violence’

Next, Braun brought up the pointless violence angle, in response to some of the words of violence directed at his family and co-workers:

“I assume this was not your intention but it is important that you understand that your words carry a tremendous amount of weight and that your message can be interpreted by some in different ways. While disappointed that you have remained silent after being notified by your attorney four days ago of these ongoing threats, I’m still hopeful we can fix this. We are living in a time of pointless violence and as a husband and father I am concerned.”

Playing the “husband and father” card is powerful, no doubt about it.

And it’s clear the talent-maker is right about the toxic division and dangerous times of bitter interaction today… even if he’s gone about this Taylor thing all wrong.

‘This Game Of Telephone’

After that, Scooter reiterated comments he’d made at that conference on Thursday afternoon, talking more about the “toxic division” he sees on social media, and how it’s poisoned this situation:

“This is a world filled with toxic division where people express their opinions over social media instead of having conversations in person. I want no part of that. To be frank I was shocked and disheartened to hear that my presence in the Big Machine deal caused you so much pain as the handful of times we have actually met I have always remembered them to be pleasant and respectful. Knowing what I know now all I have wanted to do is rectify the situation. I’m open to ALL possibilities. My attempts and calls to have an open discussion with you over the last six months have all been rejected. While some on your team and many of our mutual friends have tried to get you to the table, all have had no luck. It almost feels as if you have no interest in ever resolving the conflict. At this point with safety becoming a concern I have no choice other than to publicly ask for us to come together and try to find a resolution. I have tried repeatedly through your representatives to achieve a solution but unfortunately here we are. This game of telephone isn’t working.”

No, this game of telephone sure isn’t working at all. Anybody sane can see that — it’s not exactly done wonders for either one of these two, has it?

And whether you side with Braun or Swift, no matter who you think is in the right here, something (or someone) has to give. …Right?

‘Perform Any Song You Like’

Next, he doubled down on his insistence that the Lover singer is allowed to play her own music at the AMAs, adding:

“While I am frustrated with your accusations and respectfully disagree with many of your statements, it is important that I am clear — no artist should ever feel cornered or bullied. I have spent my entire career in service of creatives and artists, never the other way around. As the world now knows, you can and should perform any song you like at the AMAs. I have never and would never say otherwise. You do not need anyone’s permission to do so legally but I am stating it here clearly and publicly so there is no more debate or confusion.”

Well, that clears up at least one part of this controversy, although considering the awards show is on Sunday, it’d be tough for Swift to pull together an act this fast!

‘I Would Like To Find A Resolution’

Finally, he summed the entire thing up with one last flourish, accusing Taylor of potentially doing this whole thing simply to defeat a narrative rather than to find the truth in the situation:

“Moving forward I would like to find a resolution. I will make myself available whenever works for you. Many have told me that a meeting will never happen as this is not about truth or resolution but instead a narrative for you. I am hopeful that is not the case. I’m right here, ready to speak directly and respectfully. But if you would prefer to make large public statements while refusing to work towards resolving things amicably then I just pray that nobody gets seriously hurt in the process. I continue to wish you the best and hope we can resolve this.”

That’s quite the public statement, all right.

Reactions, Perezcious readers? Quite a lot to take in there. Does Scooter make some good points? Or is he manipulating the situation for his own gain, just as he’s accusing Taylor of doing?

Sound OFF with your thoughts on all that you just read in the comments (below)…
