Add this to your list of nightmares!!
Environmentalist Rene Umberger was diving off the coast of Kona, Hawaii last week to photograph some of the damage being done to the coral reef when she was suddenly attacked!
But not by a shark or an electric eel or the Loch Ness Monster! She was attacked by a fellow diver!
Rene was taking pictures when she was approached by a diver who was collecting reef fish for aquariums, and they clearly did NOT want to be filmed as they responded by pulling out her breathing apparatus!
Luckily, she was able to recover and get her oxygen back, but more importantly the whole dispute was caught on camera and is currently being investigated by The State Division of Conservation and Resources Enforcement!
There’s been a huge struggle between reef fishermen and conservationists in the past as environmentalists have been trying to document the damage being done to reefs, but this is one of the first times it turned violent!
It’s unclear what charges the other diver might face, if any, but considering they ripped out Rene’s breathing apparatus while she was underwater, we’d have to think this is pretty serious!
Ch-ch-check out the insane attack (below)!
