Selena Gomez fans need to settle down.
The former Disney darling gave her devoted fanbase quite the shock as she donned a fall risk bracelet and had a seemingly bandaged wrist in an image (above) promoting her new song, Bad Liar. Not to mention, as Selly G is one of the geniuses behind Netflix‘s teen drama about suicide, 13 Reasons Why, several of her followers assumed the A-lister’s upcoming single would be about an attempted suicide.

Thankfully, the photographer for this controversial Selena shoot has since clapped back at fans who’ve jumped to any troubling conclusions. After sharing the pic on her own Instagram account, Petra Collins wrote:
In case you forgot, the 24-year-old has struggled quite a bit with her lupus diagnosis over the years. Specifically, The Weeknd‘s girlfriend sought mental health help after dealing with panic attacks and depression which were brought on by her condition. So sad.
No wonder, Petra felt the need to stand up for the pop star. Regardless, we have a feeling internet trolls swooped in on the photographer as she has since turned off the comments on her IG page.
The highly talked about image wasn’t the only thing the Hands To Myself performer shared in order to promote Bad Liar. In addition to the photo, Selena posted:

Huh. We’re definitely curious to see if Gomez’s new track is as dark as everyone thinks it’s going to be.
