Serial Killer Fangirl Found Guilty Of Murdering Boyfriend

Ever since Netflix‘s Dahmer docuseries hit the streaming platform, idolization of serial killers has been a huge topic on social media. It’s something that’s been around for as long as killers have existed — for whatever reason people feel drawn to these murderers and some even go as far as dating or marrying their chosen slayer. What happens when this admiration goes too far? Well, there are some serious consequences…

We’ve already heard about the story of the man from Louisiana who was inspired by Jeffrey Dahmer to kidnap and murder gay men, but now another person has been brought to justice who also had inspiration from these infamous killers. According to DailyMail.com, a British woman from Hampshire, England had portraits of some serial killers on her bedroom wall — and now she’s been found guilty of murder.

In July 2022 the now 27-year-old Shaye Groves (pictured above) went into a “jealous rage” after she found out her boyfriend, Frankie Fitzgerald, had allegedly been talking to a 13-year-old girl on Facebook. Groves originally pleaded not guilty and said she acted in self defense, but the evidence quickly turned the case against her.

Apparently the woman called her bestie Vicky Baitup after she’d committed the crime and showed off her boyfriend’s bloody body. She said she’d woken him up with a knife to his throat after finding the damning messages, and told her friend as she was cleaning up the messy scene:

“I’ve done him … I just lost it. I just lost it. I picked up my dagger and stabbed him in the neck.”

Chilling…

Groves even tried to create an alibi — saying her boyfriend had “walked out” on her — but it was too late and her friend had already decided to turn her in. Baitup was the one to call the police, and when they arrived, the 27-year-old couldn’t stick to one story. She told authorities she’d stabbed Fitzgerald because he attacked her:

“He tried to attack me, it’s not the first time, I’ve got video footage of him raping me and beating me.”

According to the Crown Court via the BBC, the woman tried to set up a “false narrative” to avoid being convicted of her crimes, but was ultimately found guilty of murder on Friday. She also had portraits of serial killers including Jeffrey Dahmer, Ted Bundy, Richard Ramirez, and Myra Hindley hanging in her bedroom because she thought they looked “pretty cool.” Uh…

Fitzgerald’s family released a statement following the conviction of his murderer, expressing their heartache:

“As a parent you never expect to outlive your children, you will do anything in your power to protect them. Frankie was our baby, the youngest of five children he can never be replaced. He was a kind and beautiful person and sadly leaves two children behind that will never get to know their daddy. We thank the jury for their verdict today. To our Frankie, we love and miss you more than anything in this world. Your shining light will always be our hearts.”

So, so sad.

Groves is set to be sentenced next Wednesday, hopefully finally bringing some justice to her victim’s family. May he rest in peace.
