And he doesn’t feel the least bit guilty!
Was anyone expecting anything differently? Ha!
In an attempt to secure a nomination in the best comedy series category at this year’s Emmy Awards, Seth MacFarlane and the rest of the Family Guy crew sent out mailers featuring Peter Griffin saying:
“Come on, you bloated, overprivileged Brentwood Jews. Let is unto your little club.”
Definitely a tad bit offensive, but these guys knew that going in and just wanted everyone to have a good laugh (at their own expense). Comparing the joke to something he’s heard from Ricky Gervais at the Golden Globes, MacFarlane responded to the controversy by saying:
“I put it in the same category as Ricky Gervais at the Golden Globes a few years ago├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥Hollywood must be able to laugh at itself. Hollywood is a town of very well-to-do folks who live very comfortably. They have a very comfortable lifestyle, they do what they love, there’s not much that is bad in their life. So they should be able to laugh at themselves. If they can’t, it’s a rather sad thing.”
It was a bold move, that’s for sure. Let’s see if it pays off for him.
