Seth Rogen may have been the one to end his friendship with James Franco — but that doesn’t mean he wasn’t “hurt” too.
Once Hollywood’s hottest comedic duo, Seth and James are now no more than strangers. For two decades, they brought on the laughs across various TV and movie projects and became IRL besties. But years after all the #MeToo allegations were hurled at the 127 Hours star, Seth decided to take a step back from their working and personal relationship. And it seems things between the Pineapple Express co-star are truly over for good — as Seth has no intention of EVER rekindling their friendship.

On Monday, an insider told DailyMail.com that severing his connection to James was something Rogen “had” to be done in order to move ahead with his own career:
“There is no world where Seth will be friends with James Franco ever again. The friendship and work they did together was amazing, but Seth had to separate himself from James to move forward in his own life and career. Seth doesn’t want to be connected with anyone that has been accused of horrible things.”
In 2018, James was hit with a wave of sexual misconduct accusations from multiple former acting students. He denied such accusations, but ultimately settled the case for $2.2 million.
And just last week, he spoke to Variety and revealed that he’s “told [Seth] how much he’s meant to [him],” but that the Neighbors star won’t have it. And while separation WAS the right move for Seth, that doesn’t mean it was necessarily an easy one. The source added:
“He had to drop James cold turkey which hurt.”
We’re sure. There’s SO much history there. But we respect Seth’s morals for so passionately condemning someone who was accused of sexual harassment — even if that someone was his best friend.
