You’d think ending up on the editing room floor would ruin an actor’s day! Not Shailene Woodley!
She’s actually applauding the decision to cut her out of The Amazing Spider-Man 2!
Shailene was all set to take the part of Mary Jane Watson, Peter Parker’s red-headed sweetheart. She even shot her scenes alongside Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield! But producers decided that the character just didn’t fit in the film and erased her right out of the movie!
We were devastated to hear that news! But according to Shailene, that was the right thing to do! She explained:
“[I] was only going to be in four scenes. I think it├óΓé¼Γäós really incredibly smart that she├óΓé¼Γäós not in it, looking back at it now because they├óΓé¼Γäóre introducing so many characters and MJ is such a vital character that it makes sense to hold off for future movies to introduce her.”
Sure. OK. We can patiently wait for Mary Jane’s big debut on the big screen. But what we really want to know is, will Shailene get to keep the part???
She isn’t saying whether or not she’ll be swinging with Spidey in The Amazing Spider-Man 3, due out in 2016!
But c’mon! Who could be better than Shailene??? Srlsly. Tell us. Who do YOU think could pull this part off if not Shailene?
