What tragic news.
An actor who made a name for himself in his home state of Hawaii after starring in just a single movie has died due to complications with pneumonia at the age of 32.
Joshua “Li’iBoy” Shintani — who appeared in 2001’s Shallow Hal opposite Gwyneth Paltrow, Jack Black, and Jason Alexander — passed away from his condition after a few days of hospitalization last Wednesday.

Apparently, the actor known for singing Never Forget Where I’m From in the film was taken to the emergency room by his mother early last week but unfortunately passed away just a day before Thanksgiving.
Li’iBoy was Josh’s character in the movie, and he became such a local celeb in Kauai that the nickname stuck with him for the 14 years until his untimely death last week.
Our thoughts are with Joshua’s friends and family at this unbelievably difficult time.
Rest in peace, Li’iBoy.
