Shawn Mendes got his first-ever tattoo, and it’s a meaningful one!
On Monday, the Treat You Better performer went to Chronic Ink in Toronto to get his inaugural ink, and it turned out great! Livia Tsang — AKA the artist who tatted the 17-year-old — took to Twitter to share a snap of the singer and his new tat (above)!

The hitmaker himself even admitted his new bodywork, posting:

Mr. Mendes revealed that the tattoo is actually a meaningful one, with different parts representing different things! During the procedure, the brunette melted fans’ hearts everywhere when he admitted:
“The soundwave here that looks like buildings is actually an audio of my parents saying I love you.”
Ugh! Our hearts!
But Livia did point out that the tall, defined building on the Canadian crooner’s arm is an actual, famous skyscraper in Toronto, tweeting:

Awww! Shawn’s repping his parents’ love AND his roots! Too cute!
We also love that the tat itself is shaped like a guitar — do we even need to explain that one? — with the base featuring a beautiful, tree-lined waterfront.
