It’s been a little over a week since Shay Mitchell welcomed her first child and she’s already catching heat from mommy-shamers online!
Apparently, some people were very upset The Pretty Little Liars star ventured out to attend Drake‘s birthday party in Los Angeles recently, just days after giving birth. However, fierce new momma Shay isn’t taking this criticism lying down!

As we reported, the 32-year-old and her boyfriend Matte Babel announced the birth of their daughter on Instagram on Sunday, October 20. The couple shared a sweet photo holding their newborn’s tiny little fingers and expressed their joy over her arrival with the caption, “Never letting go.”
The drama started three days later though after the starlet shared videos of herself and Babel turning up at Drizzy’s star-studded birthday bash, which you can catch a glimpse of (below):
The seemingly harmless clip was met with immediate and overwhelmingly negative responses from the parenting police, including these particularly harsh ones (below):
“Mother of the year award right here!!!! As if you seriously could leave your baby to go party?!!! I hope the child’s aid look into this and your abilities to be a good parent cause damn!!! Lacking some serious skills there [sic] sweety! #selfish.”
“Disgusting… leaving your newborn only days after birth”
Yikes.
Well, Mitchell took to her Instagram Story on Tuesday night and clapped back at her haters for their shady comments!
While scrolling through some of the mean messages left by followers on her original baby announcement post, she quipped:
“I haven’t been really checking my comments that often, but apparently people are really upset that I left three days after having a kid to go out and party.”
Shay also took her rant a step further and responded to a user’s call-out over how quickly she was able to return to her normal life after giving birth:
“Days? Lol honey, just because I posted on that day doesn’t mean she was born on that day.”
Oop!
Some fans thought theYou actress actually had a point though and fortunately for her, several of ’em actually came to her defense, writing (below):
“Seriously, stop with the mom-shaming”
“So she gave birth recently..doesn’t mean her life suddenly became prohibited and that she’s restricted to do certain things.
”literally who cares. Stop judging her, it’s her life. And like she said just because the picture was posted that day doesn’t mean she was actually born that day.”
There’s a difference between showing *genuine* concern for someone else’s life and just spewing your own bitter thoughts for the sake of, well, nothing.
Shay has been all about her journey to motherhood from the moment she announced her pregnancy, and we’re hard to pressed to believe she was acting out carelessly here.
