Shay Mitchell is one tough momma!
In the latest episode of her YouTube Original Series Almost Ready, the Pretty Little Liars star gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at what went down in the delivery room when she and boyfriend Matte Babel welcomed their first child together.
As we wrote on Monday, the couple, who’s been dating since 2017, announced they are now the happy parents of a baby girl!

In case you haven’t kept up, Mitchell’s been documenting her road to motherhood via the online series. The video’s description on YT reads:
“The past nine months has been more than I ever imagined. Pregnancy has been one of the most exciting, challenging and physically demanding things I’ve ever done. It’s brought a new meaning to family and my partnership with Matte – I’ve watch my daughter develop and grow and now I’m READY to meet her!”
According to the nearly 12-minute clip, it was far from smooth sailing as Shay takes viewers all the way from the moment her water broke at home to when she heard her daughter’s first cries.
In fact, the actress had to endure a whopping 33 hours of labor before giving birth! OMG.
As you might expect, the whole process was extremely challenging for Mitchell, who even got the shakes (a common occurrence during delivery) at one point. At the 13-hour mark, the starlet began to have stable contractions and doctors recommended giving her a drug called Pitocin to help speed up the whole process. But, as her doula noted, the drug is “used to make a labor move faster but the labor, the physical experience with the labor is completely different because the Pitocin labor is pretty rough.”
Despite those hiccups and not sleeping for nearly two days, Shay was able to lean on her partner for support and power through the entire thing. Seriously, if this doesn’t remind you how strong women are — we don’t know what will!
