Shay Mitchell is a new momma!
The Pretty Little Liars star and her boyfriend Matte Babel, who she’s been dating since 2017, couldn’t be more thrilled for this next adventure!

Shay announced the birth of her daughter on Instagram Sunday, sharing:
AWWWW!
In case you forgot, Mitchell announced the pregnancy on her YouTube Original Series Almost Ready. In the emotional video, she revealed:
“I’s been a really lonely journey. I think pregnancy is awesome for the most part but it’s also really f**king lonely… It didn’t feel right to just put up a photo and be like, ‘I’m pregnant’ and have people just think that everything has been peaches or rainbows. This is real life that I want people to come along with me on this journey in real time.”
In a message alongside the video, Mitchell spoke on how excited she was to finally tell the world she was expecting — mostly because that meant she didn’t have to hide her growing baby bump anymore!
She wrote:
“There is something in the oven and it’s not my pizza!!! WOW… It’s kind of surreal processing the fact that another human is growing inside of you. It’s exciting, nerve-racking, difficult and emotional all at the same time. Everyone waits for the right time to make the announcement and for me it wasn’t until I couldn’t hide it anymore and was tired of wearing over sized sweatshirts. We’re beyond excited and looking forward to starting a family. I’ve learned so much about myself and parenthood over the past 6 months, and feel like I haven’t even scratched the surface! It’s going to be a wild ride.”
The 32-year-old was especially cautious after suffering a miscarriage in 2018. At the time, she detailed the experience on her IG Story:
“We all have to deal with various struggles and challenges in life. And sometimes it’s easier to only showcase the good times on social media, which is what leads so many people to criticize it for its lack of authenticity. Having so many people follow me on Instagram and read my posts is both incredibly humbling and hugely uplighting. The support and affection that so many of you show me lifts me up during even my darkest days, The support and affection so many of you show me lifts me up during even my darkest days, one of which happened last year after I lost the child of my hopes and dreams.”
Thankfully she weathered the storm with Matte, and now they have a beautiful rainbow baby of their own!
