Sister Wives Drama! Christine Brown SUES Ex Kody Brown Over Daughter Truely!

Christine Brown is taking her ex Kody to court!

In legal docs obtained by In Touch on Thursday, the Sister Wives star sued her ex on Monday of this week. In it, she asked the court to establish paternity of the couple’s 14-year-old daughter Truely because Kody isn’t currently listed on her birth certificate. She’s also asking for child support and custody of the teen! Wow!

Additionally, the TLC personality requested a domestic relations injunction that would prevent both parents from harassment, domestic violence, canceling or modifying services, taking the children for nonroutine travel without court orders or permission, and demeaning or disparaging the other person. OMG! She’s really wanting to set some clear co-parenting boundaries!

The blogger Without a Crystal Ball was the first to report the news, noting that due to Truely’s age and Utah law, the teenager will be able to advocate for herself and make her wishes known throughout the legal process. So, that’s good!

As Perezcious readers may know, the exes also share kids Aspyn, 29, Mykelti, 28, Paedon, 26, Gwendlyn, 22, and Ysabel, 21. They got spiritually married in 1994 before splitting in November 2021. At the time, Christine revealed on Instagram:

“We will continue to be a strong presence in each other’s lives as we parent our beautiful children and support our wonderful family. At this time, we ask for your grace and kindness as we navigate through this stage within our family.”

However, things quickly got complicated when she chose to move with Truely to Utah, leaving Kody behind in Arizona. In 2022, a source told In Touch that Kody was no longer present in his daughter’s life, either. They said:

“He’s still paranoid about COVID and everything else. So, if Christine is not choosing to do the transporting and making it happen — nor would she put Truely through any of this stress — then Kody won’t have a relationship with Truely. He would have to leave his nest to see his daughter.”

In an October 2023 episode of the family’s series, Christine opened up more about her decision. She said that she was trying to “preserve Truely’s relationship with Kody,” and explained:

“I took their relationship while it was still good and I picked it up and I moved it. And then whenever we come back into town, I just pick it up again and I move it back.”

Kody slammed this decision, calling it “ridiculous,” and adding in a confessional:

“For Christine to think that she’s saving my relationship with Truely by taking her away from me and just ‘preserving’ it — that’s such B.S. rationalization.”

Despite this controversy, it seemed like they were maintaining an amicable relationship. Christine even acknowledged last November that they wished each other a happy Valentine’s Day with their respective partners, her new husband David Woolley and Kody’s last remaining wife Robyn. It’s unclear how often Kody has been seeing the teen lately, but we have a feeling that this legal issue could get messy based on his past comments about her move. Oof!
