The Browns from Sister Wives are already one of the most interesting reality show families — but they just got even more exciting!
On Sunday night’s episode, Kody and Meri Brown‘s daughter came out to her parents!

Mariah Brown shared the news that she identifies as a lesbian in a family meeting; the 21-year-old not only told her folks, but shared her big announcement with sister wives Janelle, Christine, and Robyn as well!
Before Mariah’s big reveal, Christine told the cameras she hoped the news was going to be regarding the young girl transferring to UNLV so she could be closer to home. Nope, not quite…
The young woman gathered all her polygamist parents in a room and admitted:
“This feels so awkward. I’m freaking out.”
But then Miz Brown found the courage to reveal:
“Uhm, I’m gay.”
Though the scene was surely filmed a while ago, we’re THRILLED Mariah was able to open up to her parents!
And hopefully this move gives fans of the show a bit of their own bravery…

Unfortunately, the episode ended right after the announcement, but Mariah took to Twitter following the airing to thank all her supporters as she shared:

Next week’s episode will cover the reactions as a trailer showed Meri a little heartbroken that her daughter kept it a secret from her as she admitted:
“I did not see it coming… I thought I knew my daughter, I didn’t.”
Kody and Robyn were both extremely supportive of the 21-year-old though as they both smiled during the announcement! The father of 18 children even admitted:
“We’re not happy that Mariah’s gay, we’re happy that she knows herself.”
We can’t wait to hear the rest of the reactions!
Normally, a fundamentally Mormon family wouldn’t be on board with homosexuality as it goes against the faith’s views, but back in 2013 the Browns talked with HuffPost Live and were surprisingly in support of gay marriage, saying everyone should be able to “structure” their family “in any way they want.” YAAAS!
While we’ll certainly be waiting for next week’s episode to see how everyone deals with the news, we’re EXTREMELY happy for Mariah — the news is finally out, and so is she!
