Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi is saying goodbye to the good times at the Jersey Shore!
On the most recent episode of her podcast, It’s Happening with Snooki and Joey, the 32-year-old star revealed she is retiring from the hit MTV show that launched her career and cemented her place in pop culture history.

Snooki’s an OG cast member, having been a part of the reality TV program since it first aired ten years ago in 2009 and has been featured in just about every spin-off that’s come out after the franchise really took off, so what changed that would make her want to quit now??
After expressing gratitude for her time spent on the show, she revealed:
“So here comes my breaking news, you guys. There’s reasons why I’ve come to this decision… it’s definitely a hard decision… I’m gonna throw up. OK, you guys, I love you so much and don’t hate me for my decision, but I have to do what’s best for me at the moment, and I am retiring from Jersey Shore.“
The starlet continued to break the bad news, telling her podcast listeners:
“I am not coming back to Jersey Shore [Family Vacation] for a season four, if there is one. And there’s a lot of reasons why, but the main reason is really, I’m just like… I just can’t do it anymore.”
Too much partying and over-the-top drama? Or, perhaps she’s all GTL-ed (gym, tanning laundry) out?
The momma of three went on to explain how leaving her kids to film is “really really hard” on her. Plus, her little ones are the real reason why she’s tried to quit “every single day.”
“I hate being away from the kids, I don’t like partying three days in a row, it’s just not my life anymore. And I wanna be home with the kids. I don’t mind a here or there going to a dinner or whatever, but it’s just really hard on me to leave the kids and film the show.”
As our readers know, Snooki and her husband Jionni LaValle welcomed their baby boy Angelo James this past May — the little one joined the pair’s 7-year-old son Lorenzo and 5-year-old daughter Giovanna to round out their family of five.
It sounds like she really wants to take a step back from filming to focus on family and we can’t exactly blame her for it either!

The podcast host also admitted to some deep concerns with her image, noting she wants to come off as a “good person” on the show, but “lately” it’s been “very drama.” She explained:
“Our show, Jersey Shore, is about family and about making fun of each other and having a good time and laughing, and just knowing that it’s all in good fun. And lately, it’s just like, everything is so serious, and when it comes to our show it’s not about like, team this, team that, and fans are against one another when it comes to a cast member. That’s just not how the show works and that’s how it’s becoming.”
Well, she’s not wrong!
The latest season of Jersey Shore has been filled with plenty of dramatics especially in the wake of the s**t show that went down at fellow cast member Angelina Pivarnick‘s recent wedding.
Snooki said things have taken a scary turn in recent weeks, too, and revealed she’s been getting death threats from angry viewers who aren’t pleased with her behavior on TV:
“I just need to do what’s best for me right now and right now I’m just not comfortable filming that show anymore with the direction it’s going, with all the drama and getting death threats and getting death threats to my children… over this freaking reality show that’s not even that serious. And people take it too seriously to where I’m getting with the kids. And my store, people want to picket it. They want to boycott it and [are] leaving reviews that I have bugs in my store. It’s just a lot and it’s not something I signed up for with this show.”
Wow. Crazzzy to hear such things! The threats on her life AND her speedy, unfortunate departure.
She wrapped things up noting there are “no hard feelings when it comes to the production or MTV” and her pals on-screen including Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, DJ Pauly “D” DelVecchio, Vinny Guadagnino, and Jenni “JWoww” Farley, will certainly miss her — but it’s time!
With a personality as big as hers, we hope she doesn’t stay out of the game forever!
