Did Sophie Turner & Joe Jonas DITCH Their Other Wedding Plan?? Here's The Real Reason!

Sophie Turner Joe Jonas Wedding Vegas Surprise Reason Maisie Williams

In case you hadn’t heard, SURPRISE BITCHES! Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner got married Wednesday night!
The Billboard Music Awards, in which the Jonas Brothers performed, just happened to take place in Las Vegas — giving the loving couple the perfect opportunity to say their “I do”s.
It was a full-on ceremony at the famous Little White Wedding Chapel, officiated by an Elvis impersonator and everything. They even had their own vows!

This clearly wasn’t a spur of the moment decision either; they had to get their marriage license earlier in the day.
That also explains how they had time to plan with wedding attire for the whole fam — Nick and Kevin stood with Joe, while their respective brides Priyanka Chopra and Danielle Jonas stood in as bridesmaids for Sophie.
But hold up…
Weren’t they planning a big ceremony? With Sophie’s Game Of Thrones sister Maisie Williams as maid of honor??

Arya may have gotten a shoutout at the BBMAs from Drake, but the actual actress wasn’t in attendance.

For that matter we have to imagine their families will have something to say about not getting to be there…
What happened to the ceremony planned for this Summer in France?? Why switch it up and get married in Vegas??
Well, don’t worry — no one is getting left out.
According to a source speaking to People, it was a logistical issue. The insider explains:

“They had to get married in the States to make it legal, but the wedding is still in Europe.”

Wait, what?
Yes, apparently while France is a sumptuous, celebrated spot for a wedding, if the two folks tying the knot aren’t French citizens, they can’t actually get legally married there.

According to the U.S. Embassy & Consulates in France:

“At least one of the parties to be married must have resided in France for at least forty days immediately preceding the marriage. This precludes a wedding in cases where both parties are only visiting for a short stay.”

Folks having a huge wedding in France will often have a smaller, more official ceremony back home beforehand.
Well, the more you know, huh?
Good thing, too, because if Sophie had gone behind Maisie’s back like that, well, you know what she does to her enemies.
