Sports Columnist Steve Buckley announced in his column today that he’s gay!
He said that his one regret is that he didn├óΓé¼Γäót write the column when his mom was still alive 7 years ago — she even told him he should come out publicly before she died.
Wrote Buckley:
“But like an NFL referee, she had overturned the original call. ‘Do it,’ she said. I thanked her. She smiled. And then I made the biggest mistake of my life: With a vacation lined up for the first week of December, I told her I’d get to it when I returned to Boston — just before Christmas.”
Sadly, Buckley’s mother died shortly after he returned from the vacation.
We’re so happy he’s finally come out! Hopefully his openness will be accepted in the sports community!
