After being pestered over the years by her friends, Stella McCartney has finally designed childrenz clothes.
In collaboration with Gap Kids and Baby Gap the line includes “everything from supersoft cashmere blankets for newborns to Fair Isle sweaters, brushed cotton blazers with silk lapels, and those wool military jackets, which are intricately embroidered with gold thread”.
And the prices are relatively affordable, ranging from $14 for wool tights to $128 for a jacket!
Hey, we said relatively affordable.
But Stella didn’t do all the designing herself. In fact she enlisted the help of her four year old son Miller and her colleagues├óΓé¼Γäó daughters to draw the monsters that adorn the days-of-the-week underwear. Miller even got the final say on a t-shirt.
The designer tells W Magazine, ├óΓé¼┼ôI├óΓé¼Γäóm quite aware that after the age of four and a half, kids actually don├óΓé¼Γäót want to wear what their parents want to put on them anymore.”
That’s actually pretty smart to go right to the childrenz who are going to be wearing the designs.
But don’t expect Stella to make designing for kids a regular thing. The one time only line will be available available starting in November.
We’re sure this little business venture will do just as well as her regular line.
