If you’re having trouble sleeping, you may want to try exercising before you start popping Tylenol PM.
A study published in the journal Mental Health and Physical Activity has found that people who exercised at a moderate to vigorous level for at least 150 minutes a week had better sleep quality than people who exercised less.
How much better? Oh, just about 65% better, which is pretty darn good if you ask us!
Of the 3,000 men and women between ages 18 and 85 studied, those who demonstrated proper exercise throughout the week ALSO felt less tired during the day and experienced fewer leg cramps at night.
Brad Cardinal, a study researcher and professor of exercise science at Oregon State University, told sources:
“We were using the physical activity guidelines set forth for cardiovascular health, but it appears that those guidelines might have a spillover effect to other areas of health. Increasingly, the scientific evidence is encouraging as regular physical activity may serve as a non-pharmaceutical alternative to improve sleep.”
This information is no surprise considering exercise offers your body a variety of priceless benefits, but this is just one more that could finally be the motivation some people need to start working out regularly.
