Taylor Swift is facing one of the worst waves of backlash we’ve seen in quite some time. And it’s not even over something she said or did! Frankly, it’s because she’s said and done NOTHING.
The Blank Space singer was spotted over the weekend hanging out once again with Brittany Mahomes, wife of BF Travis Kelce‘s teammate Patrick Mahomes. Tay’s growing friendship with Brittany was well-documented last NFL season and wasn’t so problematic… until a couple weeks ago when the WAG posted her support for Donald Trump and his Project 2025 plans for the US if he wins the presidency back. Fans wondered if Taylor was backing away from hanging with Brittany when they watched the Kansas City Chiefs‘ season opener from separate boxes. But the foursome enjoying the US Open on Sunday proved they’re still thick as thieves.

Swifties were NOT happy to see it… not considering Taylor’s supposed progressive political beliefs. See, four years ago she bravely stood up as she saw the hate Trump and his cronies were whipping up. She spoke out against the growing homophobia and racism he cheered on. She spoke up for women’s rights and against the growing patriarchy and Christian nationalists trying to take women back out of the workforce. She made a whole documentary about it called Miss Americana — in which she fought the handlers trying to keep her quiet for PR, famously saying:
“I need to be on the right side of history.”
So, um… what side of history is she on now? That’s what fans are demanding!
It’s not just that Taylor is hanging with a vocal Trump supporter. It’s that she isn’t voicing her support for Kamala Harris or for the defeat of Trumpism anymore. She’s been notably silent about it all this election season — despite Trump seeming far more dangerous this time around! We mean, not only are his Project 2025 policies OVERTLY counter to everything Tay supposedly stood for, he’s also through picking anyone for his cabinet who would ever stand up to him like he did last time. And he’s making it clear he’s planning to go full dictator and jail any political opponents and critics — with the approval of the Supreme Court he helped put together.
It’s a terrifying time, and Taylor is… not saying a word. So yeah, seeing her hanging with Brittany after months of silence? It’s not sitting well with a huge chunk of her fanbase! See some of the strongest reactions from social media on Sunday:
