Taylor Swift’s team has a bone to pick with whoever revealed that the pop star would be at the first game for the Kansas City Chiefs!
This week, several outlets reported she would be at Travis Kelce’s NFL season opener against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night — including The Athletic. The outlet confirmed the 34-year-old singer’s attendance earlier that day, citing “a source briefed on the security arrangements at Arrowhead Stadium.” And, as Perezcious readers know, all the reports were true! Taylor showed up and cheered on her boyfriend in a private suite with his parents.
However, Mz. Swift’s camp wasn’t happy about the leaked information she would be at the game! A source told Page Six on Friday:
“She has presidential-level security. After Austria, her security firm is not too happy that her whereabouts are out.”
Sadly, the Evermore artist has been dealt with several unfortunate situations and security risks this past summer. For starters, an alleged stalker made threats against her and Travis before the Eras Tour show in Germany. A 17-year-old allegedly attacked thirteen people in a mass stabbing at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in the UK in July. Three of those victims — 9-year-old Alice Aguiar, 7-year-old Elsie Dot Stancombe, and 6-year-old Bebe King — died. Three shows in Vienna were canceled after authorities learned of a terrorist plot targeting one of her concerts earlier this month. Thankfully, the attack in the Austrian city was stopped before anyone got hurt.
But after everything, it is no wonder her security team is on high alert and does not want anyone to know about her whereabouts beforehand. It’s all about keeping not only her safe but those around her as well! We bet her camp wants to know who leaked the news now! Well, there IS speculation that the NFL team spilled the beans to possibly draw more viewers to the game! Whoa! Talk about a breach of trust!
Of course, Taylor did bring in huge numbers for the NFL. According to AdImpact, viewership for the season opener averaged 48.9 million. Last year’s kickoff game between the Chiefs and Detroit Lions averaged 40.1 million viewers — so this year saw an 18 percent increase in viewership! Damn! No doubt people tuned in to get a peak of Taylor at the game, giving the NFL those massive ratings! All of this is great news for the league. However, it shouldn’t have come at the cost of her potential safety by leaking the news of her attendance ahead of time.
Notably, Chiefs president Mark Donovan insisted in an interview with Front Office Sports on Thursday that the team will not try to “capitalize” on Taylor showing up at the game:
“We’ll be prepared for her, and obviously welcome her with open arms. She brings a lot with her, and it’s a pretty valuable, targeted demographic when you look at the makeup of her fan base. And we’ve looked at ways that we could be respectful. We’re not trying to capitalize on this. We’re trying to celebrate it, but it’s not about doing too much or showing her every touchdown or anything like that.”
Hmm. Even Chiefs CEO Clark Hunt also told SiriusXM in February that they have worked with her security team to make sure she gets in and out of the Kansas City Chiefs’ game “safely,” saying:
“Obviously, anywhere she goes is a security issue. It’s something that we’ve helped her security team handle when she comes to games in Kansas City, and I know the visiting teams that we’ve played this year where she’s shown up have had to do the same thing. She has a really talented security team. They liaison with our security team, and we make sure we get her into and out of the stadium safely.”
Well, leaking her whereabouts is not prioritizing her safety — if the report is true! If it is, they have some explaining to do to the Taylor’s team now! Reactions, Perezcious readers? Sound OFF in the comments!
