What in the heck was this guy thinking??
In a WILD viral video from Sunday, a man can be seen collecting his prize — purportedly a guitar signed by Taylor Swift — from an auction. The unnamed man reportedly spent $4,000 on the instrument — only to destroy it!
Yes, in the video, the auctioneer hands the man the guitar and also a hammer. The entire intention of the auction seems to have been to smash this thing apart — and someone paid thousands to do it! WTF!

Why would someone do such a phenomenally wasteful and destructive thing? Well, the fact it’s getting shared around by right-wing pundits is probably a big clue. Donald Trump supporter author Nick Adams called smashing the guitar with a hammer “alpha male behavior.”
Remember, Tay committed the cardinal sin of speaking out against MAGA’s supreme leader as she endorsed Kamala Harris instead. And his followers not only have a cultish devotion to the reality TV star-turned-politician, they tend to show their love with… well, hate.
So yeah, if it was just the one guy we’d guess just some ridiculous agent of chaos. But when the guy started breaking the guitar, cheers erupted from the crowd — leading us to believe this was all some performative culture wars crap. You know, like when people burned their shoes, appliances, books, etc for Trump. Or when Kid Rock shot up a bunch of beer to prove how much he hates trans people.
We weren’t the only ones to reach this conclusion, as responses to the video proved. Swifties went savage on the guy for his very stabile genius move, writing:

Speaking of which, there’s just one more comment we want to highlight:
“Imagine spending $4k on a guitar when there’s literally an emergency situation on the east coast. That $4K could have help a lot of other people instead of some collector.”
Not just buying a guitar — but basically lighting your money on fire and buying the item to destroy it. And all while people are losing their real belongings in flooding from Hurricane Helene. Oof.
