Taylor Swift's Lawyers Fight Justin Baldoni Subpoena -- With Support From Blake Lively & Ryan Reynolds!

Taylor Swift‘s lawyers are fighting back against a subpoena they were served by Justin Baldoni‘s team!

As Perezcious readers know, just last week, the pop star’s rep confirmed she was served papers amid the battle between the It Ends With Us director and her (former?) pal Blake Lively. She’s denied having any involvement in the project, aside from approving the use of a song, and clearly doesn’t want to be dragged into this fight anymore.

Well, according to new filings obtained by Billboard on Tuesday, the singer’s legal team at the firm Venable, based in Washington DC, was also served a subpoena — which they’re trying to get out of… with the support of Blake and Ryan Reynolds! Whoa!

On Monday, the law firm — which has represented the Anti-Hero artist for more than a decade — filed a motion to dismiss the document request, noting they were served with the subpoena on April 29. The subpoena also name-checked Douglas Baldridge, a partner at the firm who has worked with the performer since 2013 and just returned to the company after working as general counsel at Taylor’s company, 13 Management. Baldoni’s team requested all communications between the firm and Blake, Ryan, and/or their attorney Michael Gottlieb. Slamming the request, the lawyers wrote:

“Venable had nothing to do with the film at issue or any of the claims or defenses asserted in the underlying lawsuit. There is no reason for this subpoena other than to distract from the facts of the case and impose undue burden and expense on a non-party.”

They blasted the subpoena as a “fishing expedition,” arguing that “even if Venable were somehow involved (again, it is not),” Justin should be getting the material from Blake and Ryan — who he is actually suing.

Amid their feud with the Grammy winner, the couple actually showed their support for this by filing their own motion to “intervene and quash the subpoena issued to Venerable” on Tuesday. Blasting the Jane the Virgin star’s “abuse of the discovery process,” their camp argued:

“The Lively Parties have a substantial interest in the subject of this action, and the Court’s disposition of the action may impair or impede the Lively Parties’ ability to protect their interest. The Lively Parties seek to intervene to challenge a subpoena that requests documents, to the extent relevant at all, that may contain the Lively Parties’ confidential information and their counsel’s work product. The Court should quash the Subpoena or otherwise enter a protective order.”

Soooo, they’re really just looking out for their best interest with this filing (as always), but hey, maybe it’ll help get Tay’s team outta this? Better than nothing, we guess.

Thoughts?? Do U think Taylor and her lawyers can avoid handing anything over? Sound OFF (below).
