Taylor Swift once again proves she’s an LGBTQ ally — and a very generous one at that!
The 29-year-old songstress donated $113,000 to an LGBTQ organization called the Tennessee Equality Project on Monday, complete with a handwritten note explaining why she felt so “inspired” to do so!
Chris Sanders, the organization’s executive director, shared a photo of Tay’s letter onto TEP’s Facebook page and praised the singer for filling in the blank space of a check.

The Reputation singer, a proud Tennessean who was born and raised in Pennsylvania, wrote in the letter:
“I’m writing you to say that I’m so inspired by the work you do, specifically in organizing the recent petition of Tennessee faith leaders standing up against the ‘slate of hate’ in our state legislature. Please convey my heartfelt thanks to them and accept this donation to support the work you and these leaders are doing.”
Sanders said in his caption that the organization was “honored and grateful” for Taylor’s gift and note, in which she added that she’s grateful that TEP is “giving all people a place to worship.”
According to TEP’s website, the foundation “advocates for the equal rights of LGBTQ people in Tennessee” through “a variety of educational and organizing programming” and “legislative advocacy,” explaining:
“That means we lobby the Tennessee General Assembly and local governments around the state. When there is an important federal issue, like bills that include anti-LGBTQ adoption language, we help you make your voice heard with your federal officials.”
As Sanders explained in his post, Swift has also been a “long time ally to the LGBTQ community.” He added:
“She sees our struggle in Tennessee and continues to add her voice with so many good people, including religious leaders, who are speaking out for love in the face of fear… Tennessee Equality Project is honored and grateful to reveal Taylor Swift has made a donation of $113,000 to support our efforts at this critical moment.”
The Grammy winner made her political beliefs known before the 2018 midterm elections in November. As we reported, Swift broke her apolitical stance in October, encouraging her 115 million followers to get up and vote in the midterms.

Joe Alwyn’s girlfriend explained that while she was previously “reluctant to publicly voice [her] political opinions,” several events in her life and the world at large made her want to be more vocal about standing up for her “Tennessee values” — which include gay rights. She wrote:
“I always have and always will cast my vote based on which candidate will protect and fight for the human rights I believe we all deserve in this country. I believe in the fight for LGBTQ rights, and that any form of discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender is WRONG. I believe that the systemic racism we still see in this country towards people of color is terrifying, sickening and prevalent… I cannot vote for someone who will not be willing to fight for dignity for ALL Americans, no matter their skin color, gender or who they love.”
At the time, Tay publicly endorsed Senate candidate Phil Bredesen over Marsha Blackburn, whose “voting record appalls and terrifies [her].”
Bredesen lost the election, but the woke star’s post made a historic voter impact: a day later, Vote.org’s director of communications revealed that the website was “up to 65,000 registrations in a single 24-hour period.”
In 2017, Swift donated money to another good cause: Mariska Hargitay’s charity called the Joyful Heart Foundation — which aims to “transform society’s response to sexual assault, domestic violence, and child abuse, support survivors’ healing, and end this violence forever.”
Keep using your platform — and fortune — to make the world a better, safer place, Tay Tay!
