Taylor Swift Reveals What Fan Behavior Weirds Her Out The Most!

This is the most candid we’ve heard Taylor Swift speak about her ever-growing fanbase in a long time — and it’s definitely going to ruffle some feathers!

The New York Times just named TayTay one of the 30 Greatest Living American Songwriters, and to honor the title, the singer sat for an expansive interview all about her music, out on Tuesday. But while chatting about the origin stories of some of her biggest hits, the musician got real about the thing that weirds her out most about her fans! OMG!

Acknowledging that not all Swifties are the same, the 36-year-old confessed:

“There’s corners of my fanbase who are gonna take things to a really extreme place. There’s nothing I can do about that. There’s people who are gonna try to, like, do detective work, figure out the details. ‘Who is that about? What is this?'”

And while detective work is fun when it comes to Easter eggs she specifically planted, Taylor does NOT appreciate it when it’s about the inspiration of her songs! She complained:

“When it gets a little bit weird for me is when people act like it’s sort of a paternity test, like, ‘This song’s about that person.’ Because I’m like, ‘That dude didn’t write the song, I did.'”

Yeah, she’s got a point!

It’s gotta be especially annoying because Taylor has also been criticized for writing about her love life so much — and this kind of fan narrative only makes that backlash worse! Yet she’s not even the one revealing who her songs are about!

As frustrating and “weird” as this fan behavior can be, Travis Kelce‘s wife-to-be knows it’s part of the job:

“But that’s part of it. You have to hold tight to your perception of your art and your relationship with it, and then you just kinda have to like [blows air], ‘There it goes. Hope you like it. If you don’t now, hope you do in five years.’ And if you never do, then I was doing it for me anyway.”
