Ted Cruz‘s campaign for president is going even better than he probably could have imagined after a big win at the Iowa caucuses — but he just made a cringeworthy mistake!

The Texas senator’s campaign team produced and released a 30-second commercial attacking GOP rival Marco Rubio on Thursday, but then quickly pulled the spot.
Not because it was out of line though — it’s because the commercial (above) featured a former softcore porn actress!
LOLz!!!
Actress Amy Lindsay starred in the spot that ran on national television — until it came to light she had credits in her acting career in softcore porn movies like Carnal Wishes and Secrets of a Chambermaid.
Now, the campaign has released an official statement on the matter:
“The actress responded to an open casting call. She passed her audition and got the job. Unfortunately, she was not vetted by the casting company. Had the campaign known of her full filmography, we obviously would not have let her appear in the ad. The campaign is taking the ad down and will replace it with a different commercial.”
Womp, womp!
And Lindsay herself has responded, too!
It doesn’t sound like she’s very happy about the spot being pulled:

Way to go, Cruz — you’re knocking ’em dead at this president thing!
Here’s our question though — what looks worse? That they cast the actress in the first place? Or how embarrassed they are about it now?
