Teddi Mellencamp Defends Going Horseback Riding So Soon After Brain Surgery

Teddi Mellencamp Defends Horseback Riding Brain Surgery

Teddi Mellencamp is back in the saddle after having brain surgery. Literally!

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum’s last update on her cancer battle was so scary! Doctors found several more tumors in her brain and lungs after she already underwent emergency brain surgery back in February. It’s been a tough few months for Teddi, but she’s decided she needs to get back in the groove of everyday life. And for her, that means horseback riding!

In a new Instagram Story from Sunday, the 43-year-old thanked her dad John Mellencamp as well as her fans for their “support” in her getting back into her passion:

“Dad. Thank you for saying yes you believe in me and know I can do it. Cried with happiness that I have your support. Thank you for all the support. I am feeling great and got approval from my doctors to ride today. This makes my heart and soul happy.”

Teddi is well aware some of the criticism she’ll get from the peanut gallery about getting right back on the horse when she’s supposed to be recuperating. She went on to say she doesn’t want second opinions — she’s not into hearing about her health from anyone but her doctor:

“If I see you at the show today and you have the urge to try to tell me not to I kindly ask you to refrain. I unknowingly rode with huge tumors in my brain for 6 months and those big ones are gone now.”

Clearly she’s gotten some comments already!

Wrapping up her post, the TV personality said “mental health” is her top priority as she continues this fight with the big C:

“When you are sick or have cancer your mental health is very important. I must keep going and give myself joy and goals. I am going to always fight to be my best and find ways to smile and enjoy my life. Thanks for coming along this journey with me. I am in no place for negativity or discouragement.”

We’re rooting for Teddi as her health battle continues. And we’re in full support of her fight for NORMALCY! She’s absolutely right about the importance of mental health when it comes to beating this thing. You have to want to live — and that means living! And for Teddi, that means riding.

Thoughts, Perezcious readers??
