16-year-old California teenager Hannah Anderson, who was kidnapped and subsequently rescued, took to a social media website only 48 hours after the police saved her, and answered questions about her terrifying experience.
As you may remember, Hannah’s kidnapping spurred a lot of media attention, including Amber Alerts nationwide, when she was kidnapped by close family friend James Lee DiMaggio who is the main suspect in the killings of Hannah’s 8-year-old brother and her mother.
The website Ask.fm allows users to answer questions from other anonymous people, and while Hannah did answer questions like who her favorite artist is – she also answered questions like how she was kidnapped and how she’s dealing with the deaths of her brother and mother.
Hannah wrote how her kidnapper had managed to lure her, her mother and brother to his house in a small town near San Diego, by writing on social media:
“He told us he was losing his house because of money issues so we went up there one last time to support him, and to have fun riding go karts up there but he tricked us.”
Hannah, who didn’t even know her brother and mother were dead until she was rescued, lamented on the fact that she didn’t try to save her family. She wrote:
“I wish I could go back in time and risk my life to try and save theirs. I will never forgive myself for not trying harder to save them.”
Her kidnapper was killed in a police shootout in the Idaho wilderness whereas immediately afterwards Hannah was taken to the hospital. One user asked if Hannah would’ve preferred that the kidnapper got a life sentence in prison rather than being shot by police. Hannah, who described herself as still in shock, wrote back:
“He deserved what he got.”
Hannah Anderson has since been reunited with her father, and her family is asking for privacy during this traumatic time in Hannah’s life.
Her account on the social media website has since been disabled.
We cannot imagine what this young lady is going through, but we’re relieved that she’s now safe and is with her loved ones.
